Ice Rescue and Cold Water Survival - Operations


Continuing from the point where Ice Rescue & Cold Water Survival - Awareness left off, this program is devoted to the development of skills necessary to handle ice rescue and cold water near-drowning emergencies. This two-day in-water program includes extensive coverage of ice characteristics, pre-planning and rescue team development, safety and self-rescue, shore-based, ice-based, and device-assisted rescue techniques, accessing and extricating the victim, and medical considerations. Included is a half-day of classroom lectures, with the remainder of the course devoted to skills development and practice scenarios.

Prerequisites : Ice Rescue and Cold Water Survival – Awareness and IMS 100 (ICS)

Other Requirements : Physically capable of actively participating in all exercises. Students must provide their own PPE and personal gear
